Section 171 Licence: Before you begin

You must apply at least 7 calendar days before the date on which you wish to carry out the works.

Please make sure you have the following documents ready to send to us separately at: highways@surreycc.gov.uk

1) a copy of your contractors Public Liability Insurance of £10 million
2) location plan or a map of the location
3) site specific traffic management plans
4) front and back of the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 accreditation, operative and supervisor
5) a copy of your contractors' risk assessment and method statement (RAMS)
6) excavation plan (if applicable) with dimensions clearly identified in meters (length, width and depth)

This licence is not intended for contractors carrying out works on behalf of Surrey County Council. If you are carrying out works on our behalf, please do not use this form and submit a permit application to the Streetworks team directly instead.
